Biographical Information
Rev. Stacey Jones-Anderson is a third generation African Methodist Episcopal (AME) preacher. Her great-grand father was Bishop Joshua H. Jones, the 38th Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Jones Tabernacle Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania bears his name. Her grandfather, Rev. Dr. Alexander H. Jones pastored in several AME Episcopal Districts and was a dedicated instructor at numerous AME universities including Wilberforce and Morris Brown. His commitment to the ministry and his role of educator awarded him the opportunity of becoming Dean of Campbell College in Mississippi. Rev. Stacey completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1985 from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and she went on to earn her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University in 1986, the following year. In May 2009, she not only earned her Masters of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania but was also blessed by the AME church to be ordained an Itinerate Elder.
Although Rev. Stacey was raised an Episcopalian, at the age of seventeen she heard the voice of the Lord inviting her to become a Methodist. After accepting this invitation, she converted to Methodism and joined her grandmother’s church Mount Zion A.M.E. in Devon, Pennsylvania. She was active in the Voices of Harmony, a youth choir, until going off to college. Upon her return to Mount Zion, she expanded her involvement in her home church community. Rev. Stacey was active as a Missionary, President of the Eliza Piner Missionary Society, Sunday School Teacher, Class Leader and Steward during her years in the congregation. She also worked closely with the Upper Main Line Chapter of Church Women United.
In the fall of 2002, Rev. Stacey heard the voice of the Lord inviting her to serve him in a new way. After much prayer and council, she accepted the call to ministry on March 29, 2003, when she preached her trial sermon. In October of 2003, Rev. Stacey received her licensed to preach during her West Main-Line District Conference. On May 23, 2004, she was formally received into the Philadelphia Annual Conference of the First Episcopal District of the AMEC by Bishop Z.L. Grady. Rev. Stacey has served on the staff of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Ardmore under the guidance and direction of the then pastor, Rev. Albert Johnson. While at Bethel, Rev. Stacey taught several classes: Adult Sunday School, New Member, and Wednesday Evening Bible Study. In an extension of her classes at Bethel A.M.E., she also taught Bible Study Classes at Saunders House, a local nursing home. In addition to this role as a spiritual educator, Rev. Stacey assisted the children’s choir, preached love feast in accordance with the ministerial rotational schedule, began a prayer ministry where she had the opportunity to lead several healing services and worked closely with the Bethel Academy where she taught a series of climate change workshops.
Rev. Stacey was appointed to her first pastoral charge in June of 2010. She served the good people of Bethany A.M.E. Church in Parkesburg until May of 2015. During her pastoral charge at Bethany Rev. Stacey began to hear the Lord calling her to serve him in a multi-cultural church. Hence, after much prayer and council she reached out to the United Methodist Church for an opportunity to serve. In June of 2015 Rev. Stacey was appointed to First UMC Bristol where she currently serves today on loan. She is on her journey to become a United Methodist Elder in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
Rev. Stacey is a retired Federal employee with 32 years of service. During the majority of her federal service, she was employed by the USDA Forest Service where she enjoyed a career in Human Resource Management. She has worked on a National Forest in California, the Headquarters office in Washington D.C. and a national research team stationed in the Newtown Square. Rev. Stacey is the loving mother of Stacey Fatima Anderson, age 27, a Policy Attorney for the Innocence Project in New York and Jamez Amour Anderson, age 25, 2021 Mental Health Counseling graduate of Fordham University in Manhattan New York. Rev. Stacey is the eldest daughter of Mr. James J. Jones, deceased, and Mrs. Gloria C. Jones of West Chester PA. She has three sisters, Mrs. Gloria E. Ruutiainen, Ms. Drae M. McComas, Mrs. Balana K. Gullatt, and one brother, Mr. Wayne B. Jones.
